My Take: Sex and The City 2 *SPOILER ALERT*

To be perfectly honest, the movie was not half bad. I believe that critics who gave this movie such shit reviews were people who were not fans of the show. I have to admit that the bad reviews did keep me away from seeing the movie on opening night (Wednesday May 27, 2010), but it did not stop me from seeing it that Friday. I was pleased. Nothing that was too over the top. The progress of the women went exactly how I believed it was going to go. I knew Aidan would make a comeback and shake up Carrie's "perfect" world, and I also knew that Charlotte would find out that motherhood was not everything she believed it was going to be. Needless to say, I was pleased. I didn't leave the movie theater disappointed.

With that being said, I feel that I have to say something about the hot piece of fun that sat in front of me. Let's just say, homegirl was lit and ready to go when the movie started. Liza's opening number with her ghastly rendition of Youdontsay’s Single Ladies was not as bad with the woman in front of me singing every fucking word as loud as she could without complaint. Then came the moment when Carrie kissed Aidan. The woman in front of me gasped really loud, clapped her hands, and yelled out, "Stupid!" Right as I thought she was finished with her shenanigans, the woman slapped her husband’s leg so loud that it sounded like an audience clap. I loved it. I made it a point to tell this woman that I loved her more than the movie. And it is my belief that if it had not been for her then maybe the movie would have been good but not as good without the drunken lady in front of me. So thank you lady who had too many cosmos, for making my movie going experience a memorable one.

OH NO!!!

So apparently the movie Sex and The City 2 is getting baaaaaddddd reviews. I hope not, because I have a whole day planned where I do nothing but wait in line for these tickets. Since I'm usually not one to listen to critics I'm going to see the film anyway. I bet this review came from some dumbass dude who just doesn't want to take part in the whole glitteratti lifestyle. And if you just read that last sentence and you don't know what the glitteratti is, then I guess you also won't like Sex and The City 2.
Here are some of the dreaded reviews:

"She’s dressed as Glinda the Good Witch in a poufy skirt and “J’adore Dior” T-shirt, and she looks like a maniac."-Amy Diluna of The New York Daily News on how Carrie is dressed when she spots Aidan in India.

"It is to movies what fried dough is to nutrition." -Rex Reed of The New York Observer

I just can't go on anymore. The above are only two quotes from the several bad reviews that I could stomach for the movie. I don't care what they say I'm gonna see it anyway. Hopefully I won't live to regret it.

Who Asked?

"You don't want to see me topless," Parker, 45, told me with a laugh from New York City, where she's been promoting Sex and the City 2. "You really don't."

Apparently Sarah Jessica Parker thinks someone actually wants to see her topless. I don't think anyone asked, but since she took it there my question is this: After what seems like 50 years in the business who would want to see Sarah Jessica Parker naked? Besides her husband, Robert Downey Jr., John John, some other folks in the 80s, and the fictional characters on Sex and the City, I'm almost positive no one would want to see Sarah Jessica Parker naked. So SJP...try to keep your unnecessary comments to yourself. SJP, I swear I love you, but sometimes you make it hard to.

I'm so excited

First of all I would like to apologize to my loyal legion for my absence, but I had to catch up with a lot of rest that I hadn't been getting since school had been #1 priority. I vow from here on out to not leave my page vacant of an original thought for more than a week. Once again, I'm sorry.

Now for the exciting news!

The Sex and The City 2 trailer is finally here. I know there was a teaser floating around for a while, but this is a full on theatrical trailer and that is why I'm so FREAKIN EXCITED!

I love Sex and The City regardless of my inability to look at Sarah Jessica Parker's face for more than 2 mins straight...I know what I said was mean, but I love her so suck it!

Anyway, I've been a fan for a while and I honestly know every episode forwards and backwards. Despite my love for this show I must admit that I don't believe in the message that the show and its movie try to get across. I honestly believe that these women were created for entertainment purposes only and that they do not and I repeat DO NOT represent every American woman.

I know there are women out there that feel a need to find their self-worth in a man, but I am not one of them. However, since I am a single woman I like to part take in single woman behavior, which consists of:

enjoying the time I have with my friends, especially my girls! *you know who you are*

The single life is something I learned from Sex and The City. I learned nightlife fashion from Carrie, female empowerment from Miranda, sophisticated charm from Charlotte, and flirty girl behavior from Samantha (EDIT: actually I’m still working on that one). So needless to say, I'm on geek mode when it comes to the Sex and The City 2 movie. Love those girls!
