Nirvana brings Merry Merry and Bobby Brown Together and Casey Affleck loves breasts
Although I'm no longer in LA, I still have friends who live there. Either they're all about their shit and are truly going to make it, or they're just slumming it up and living their life...kinda what I was doing, but I feel they are a little bit more dedicated since they still live there and I'm here in Chicago just working and L.I.V.I.N (click on the link if you have no idea what I'm talking about).
Anyway, I had to work for the past 8 days for a tired ass pay that's barely getting me by, but I take it. On the ride home from work two days ago, I received a phone call from a dearly missed LA friend. She's my favorite and something like my best friend that always has some sort of crazy story that makes the tired ass pay worth working for. I believe this story to be the best, in fact, she should stop telling me stories because it would ruin this one.
Merry Merry (yeah her name isn't really Merry) was at one of her boyfriend's shows in what's considered the boonies of California's Los Angeles County, The Valley. I'm not sure of the name of this particular place, but since she was in The Valley I'm sure it was something cheesy like The Spot or The Juke Joint. So her boyfriend plays his set and she's waiting for him and the other guy in the band to get their shit together and leave. She's waiting at the bar with another band girlfriend when this guy shows up. Merry Merry would talk to a plant if it approached her, so needless to say she began talking to this guy while the other band girlfriend stared in disbelief.
Clearly engrossed in the conversation, Merry Merry hadn't noticed that the other band girlfriend had left and told their boyfriends what Merry Merry had failed to realize: Merry Merry was talking to Bobby Brown!
Yes THAT Bobby Brown! Whitney Houston's very own ORIGINAL KING OF R&B...yeah. I'm guessing she finally looked up and saw that it was The King. However, in true LA form she didn't freak out (like I would have) or ask him about his prerogative (or for an autograph), she just pretended that he was a regular dude at a bar.
Then came the WTF moment that nearly killed me: Merry Merry looked down and noticed that The Original King was wearing a pretty original Nirvana t-shirt. Being from Seattle, Merry Merry went into this mini-rant about how Seattle-ites are born and bred to love all things grunge, especially Nirvana. In this scenario, The King was wearing a Nirvana shirt that Merry Merry had never seen before, so she asked him where he got it from. The answer: Kurt Cobain.
Really dude? Really?
But he didn't stop there, "Yeah, I went to see them in concert and got a chance to go backstage. Kurt had on this t-shit and I asked him could I have it. He just gave it to me."
How awesome is that? I mean really! How awesomely random is that? Merry Merry at some lame ass Valley bar, minding her own business, when Bobby Brown shows up and tells a ridiculous story about that time he stole a shirt from Kurt Cobain!
Want to know what's happened to me since I've been in Chicago? I was sitting at my desk at work when Casey Affleck walks his socially awkward ass past me after my eyes bugged because I clearly recognized him from that one movie. I'm sure I saw him staring at my boobs...Oh goddess I hate Merry Merry!

Jimmy Fallon Thinks Marie Is Awesome
My former roommate Marie, I believe I've written about her before, is still doing her thing in LA. After quiting that shit hole of a cafe we both worked at from 2008-2009, she moved on to a pretty popular cafe in West Hollywood named The Blu Jam Cafe. She told me shortly before I left that it was frequented by a lot of well-known folk, but me still being in my "Hollywood is poison" funk, didn't give a shit. Now all of a sudden, I care.
Jimmy Fallon was recently one of her customers. I'm sure Marie wooed him so much with her awesomeness, gun tattoos, and crazy hair, that he couldn't help but fall in love with this enchanting little rock pixie.
Jimmy posted this pic of the drink Marie did for him on his twitter, and I'm very impressed. Apparently, Marie started to take her coffee very seriously. I'm loving it.
Congrats Marie, you're officially something like a big deal!

It's Finally Here!!!
I don't know about my loyal legion, but I have had the week from hell. It seemed like Friday would never get here, and here it is...I don't know what I was so anxious for.
Regardless of this dumb week and the tomfoolery I had to put up with, things are starting to look up. The first official trailer for X-Men:First Class is here!!!
This trailer is already showing me everything I've always wanted to see from an X-Men film: What the hell is up with Magneto?
This feeling that I'm experiencing is unlike any other feeling I have ever had whenever I've watched the trailer for a future summer movie. I actually want to see more.
I'm kinda upset that it's only 2/11/2011! Why is time messing with me?

Inception = Nerd Girl Porn!
After the movie was broken down and I understood all of the explaining of space, dreams, and time; I uttered three words that is commonly referred to online as OMG!!!
I love this fucking movie. So fulfilling. So EPIC! I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing and I also couldn't believe that I started to believe that the space, dream, and time travel was possible. Seriously, if I could go to school to become a Chrononaut, I'm fucking doing it. WOW.
Okay so I'm not going to spoil the movie for people who haven't seen it (seriously it's like one person reading this blog and I'm sure that's the person who saw it with me...), but I will say that the movie is not at all what I expected. For some reason I was thinking that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the bad guy, he's not. And I also believed that Leonardo DiCaprio wouldn't be upstaged by anyone, especially Joseph Gordon-Levitt...he was.
Whoa whoa whoa! The Gordon-Levitt took over like nobody's business. I was thinking more about him and what he was doing, more than I cared about the plot of the movie. Who knew that The Gordon-Levitt would one day have one of the most EPIC fight scenes in the history of cinema. No wonder the Nation has JGL Fever, he's the bad ass in the movie. However, no matter how bad ass The Gordon-Levitt was he was no match for my boy Tom Hardy!
What?!?!?!?!?! Handsome Bob was so fucking smooth in this film. I'm not sure if smooth is really the word I should be using, but I think I have to take a break from using "EPIC". LOL! No matter what word I use to describe him, just know that I loved him and his awesomeness (?) in the movie.
Now...Although I loved the film, there were some things that make me think wtf?
Okay so first and foremost: The Kiss between JGL and that chick that played JUNO (I know her name is Ellen Page!) ...what the hell was that? No chemistry and totally unnecessary. However, maybe some other viewer saw something different and I'm just acting like some jealous hag.
Second, exactly why did they have to that creepy looking guy's dream? I understood all of the dream within a dream stuff, but why go in his dream in the first place. I missed what was so important about that guy that they just to rape this man's dream. I don't know if I can't figure it out tonight, I guess I'll have to go back to the theater tomorrow for more research.
All in all, this film was EPIC, AWESOME, basically any word to describe good. I did see The Matrix influences before and during the film, and it pleased me to find out that it wasn't a complete rip off of the movie. And yes! I know about Dark City.
My rating for this movie is 4/5 stars, two thumbs up, and three snaps in a "Z" formation. Basically I loved it!
